LOVE/HATE star Robert Sheehan is being tipped as the next Robert Pattinson as he sinks his teeth into a new cult vampire role.
The Irish actor was handpicked by the author of the popular fantasy series The Mortal Instruments for a lead role.
Sheehan (24) has been cast as the boyfriend of lead protagonist Clary Fray in the first chapter — City of Bones.
Author Cassandra Clare said she and Karate Kid director Harald Zwart and the other actors all agreed that Robert fit perfectly in the role of Simon.
“Y’all know I am a big Misfits fan, so you should not be surprised to know that I’m ecstatic that our Simon is Robert Sheehan. “You may know him as Nathan [in Misfits].
“He’s totally cute and adorable and hilarious, and his chemistry with Lily and Jamie is off the charts.
“I’ve wanted him for Simon for ages so I am pretty much totally and entirely happy,” she added.
Crooner Phil Collins’s daughter Lily takes on the lead role of Clary Fray who lives the life of a seemingly ordinary teenager.
In the first installment Clary discovers that she is the descendant of a line of ‘Shadowhunters’ — a secret group of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons.
Filming on the fantasy series is due to start in Toronto next month.
