Herald.ie reports that Robert’s involvement with Debra Ireland’s fundraiser is proving a success:

A LEADING charity has been inundated with supporters vying for a chance to go on a date with hunky Robert Sheehan.

The Love/Hate star has joined forces with charity Debra Ireland to encourage fundraising.

And the actor has set pulses racing after agreeing to take the charity’s top five fundraisers for this year’s Dublin mini-marathon out on a dinner date.

The 25-year-old came on board to help efforts to raise €90,000 to continue to provide a home nursing service for Debra Ireland.

And Debra Ireland say the number of representatives taking part in the June 3 event has sky-rocketed since Sheehan got involved.

“It’s hugely increased since Robert got on board and we’re expecting a big push towards the big day,” said Emma Fogarty, Patient Ambassador for Debra Ireland.

“So far, we have approximately 350 signed up to fundraise for the marathon at the moment so we’re getting there.”

The charity has a history of attracting big name stars to help out its fundraising drives.

Hollywood actor Colin Farrell was on hand to take out the top money-raisers for the charity two years ago.

Debra Ireland is a non-government funded organisation that assists patients with Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a skin condition so severe that sufferers are described as having skin as delicate as the wings of butterfly.

Emma (28),who is the oldest person in Ireland with her form of EB, hails from Abbeyleix in Laois, just down the road from Robert’s native Portlaoise.

Bubbly Emma said that Robert and his mum Maria jumped at the chance of helping out the charity.

“I wrote to his mother and to himself and they got in touch and I met his mam,” explained Emma.

“He said yes, he didn’t hesitate at all. Because he’s away filming right now, I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I’ve met his mam and he’s very keen.

“It was just a chance, he’s hot property at the moment, and everyone wants him,” she added.

A date has not yet been set for the special dinner with Robert, but all fundraisers must submit their money before July 19.

Don’t worry, we’re not pumping out the Love/Hate Season 4 and 5 spoilers this morning, we’re just bringing you a bit of rather exciting news about almost everyone’s favourite Irish TV Drama. Stuart Carolan’s Love/Hate is celebrating international success this morning, having just been nominated for no less than two awards at The Festival de Television de Monte-Carlo.

Universally recognised as one of THE best TV awards ceremonies in the world, The Festival takes place between June 9th and 14th, and honours the cream of the telly crop. Nidge and the boys will be battling it out to grab the gongs for Best International Drama TV Series and Best European Drama TV Series. Get in!

The series has had a phenomenal run thus far, picking up numerous IFTAs and making household names of actors like Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Aoibhin McGinnity, Peter Coonan, Lawrence Kinlan, Charlie Murphy and Ruth Negga. Sure didn’t we all fall in love with Robert Sheehan’s bad boy Darren, hide behind the sofa when Aiden Gillen’s John Boy got antsy, and bow down to Irish legend of stage and screen that is Sean McGinley when he chewed up the scenery in Season 3. We’re rather excited to see what Season 4 has in store for us.

And sure while they’re there they could always just pop into the Casino to film a few quick scenes, or y’know, wreck the gaff in the rather glam Hotel de Paris, wha? Might want to swap the hoodies for penguin suits though lads.

A HOST of well-known actors and theatrical names are getting behind a campaign to get the new Luas bridge named after the Abbey Theatre.

Love/Hate star Robert Sheehan and renowned actor and director Alan Stanford are just two of the names who have lent their support to the campaign.

Robert is one of many who have signed an online petition in support of the capital having its very own ‘Abbey Theatre Bridge’.

The 25-year-old heartthrob regularly attends productions at the iconic theatre. The theatre is also calling on members of the public to support its efforts to have the new bridge connecting Marlborough Street at Eden Quay with Hawkins House at Burgh Quay named in its honour.

Herald.ie have published some more details around the circumstances of the competition in which 5 winning ladies will have a dinner date with Robert:

The heartthrob will take time out of his busy schedule to dine in a plush restaurant alongside top fundraisers from around the country.

Every woman who raises €150 or more for DEBRA Ireland will be in with a chance of winning one of five spots at the dinner table with Mr Sheehan (above).

Patient ambassador Emma Fogarty said the competition came about via a letter that she wrote to the star.

Emma (28) was behind another ‘win a date’ competition with Colin Farrell two years ago.

“Robert is hot property at the moment. We were trying to recreate the Colin Farrell competition and his name kept coming up.

“I wrote him a lovely letter and he responded.

“Every Irish woman wants to see what he is like,” she said.
